Drayton Manor ride reviews:
The park is split into a number of areas, listed below. The Entrance Plaza contains crazy golf and 9 hole golf (1 pound a round), and eating places.
Action Park
Maelstrom: A stomach-churning new gyro-swing. 32 riders are
seated in a circle with over-the-shoulder restraints, facing outwards for a great view. The circular gondola at the end of a 17.4m long pendulum then swings into action to a height of 22.5m at an angle of 95° to 120°, while simultaneously whirling and revolving. Vortex at Thorpe Park is similar, but seated here the seats face outwards and it seems taller and so swings higher. Excellent ride!
Shockwave: Europe's only stand-up coaster - great ride and a rare chance to experience a stand-up coaster in this country.
Splash Canyon: A great river rapids ride - you can get wet of course so it's best to try this on a warm day.
Also in Action Park are:
Black Revolver, Klondike Old Mine Coaster, Tea Cups Ride
Aerial Park:
Apocalypse: A large drop-tower. You can choose whether to go in a stand-up or sit-down carriage.
Buffalo Coaster: an old but fun coaster - should be suitable for all the family.
Cyclone: The carriages follow a circle round and then elevate so the g-force keeps you in place. Like Zodiac at Thorpe Park or Enterprise at Alton Towers.
The Haunting: A nicely themed room-swing which works very well - it takes a long time to get in though.
Pandemonium (NEW): Carriages on big arms that turn upside down.
Wild West Shoot Out: one of the sit and shoot rides that's quite popular at the moment - quite fun but my gun didn't work when I went on it so didn't score very well.
Also here: Big Wheel, Flying Dutchman, Jubilee Circus, Sombrero, Drayton Queen Boat
Central Plaza
Waldo's Lakeside Arena with Live Entertainment; Games Booths; and Lakeside Tea Shop
Pirate Cove
Excalibur - A Dragons Tale: Replacing the safari ride, this ride sounded promising but didn't really deliver. I don't know if the effects weren't working or something but it seemed pretty lame to me - there was one moment when something happened in the shed area which was a pretty good effect.
Jolly Roger: A pirate ship which spins round. Fun, especially for smaller children.
Also here: Pirate Adventure, Dodgems, Jolly Bucaneer, Pirate Raft Ride
Fisherman's Wharf
Stormforce 10: A very wet ride. This one has a backwards drop which is a neat feature.
Also Polperro Express Railway, and Carousel
Robinsons Land
Flying Jumbos, Junior Crousel, Ladybirds, Vintage Cars, Mini Balloons, Arriva Crazy Bus, Super Dragon Coaster, Frog Hopper, Whirly Wheel, Cadbury's Junior Pirate Ship
