Chessington ride reviews:
The park has 10 areas: Mystic East, Forbidden Kingdom, Mexicana, Market Square, Animal Land, Pirates Cove, Transylvania, Toytown and Beanoland.
Mystic East
Dragon Falls: (> 0.9m) A log flume - lots of fun but you can get very wet of course so best to try on a warm day and not too close to the end of the day or you'll be going home soaking wet. Remember there is a photo on this one.
Samauri: (> 1.4m) I plucked up the courage to go on this last time I went to Chessington and I'm glad I did, it's an excellent ride! It's difficult to descibe how it works but basically you get spun around very fast in just about all directions and get held upside down at some points. There are 6 arms coming out from the centre and each contains 5 seats, the arms rotate on two axis and the whole assembly is attached to another arm which raises it high in the air and also rotates, so just about every angle is covered. Half way through the ride the big arm slows down and then starts rotating the other way, to create yet another different range of sensations. I would definitely not recommend this after eating!
Forbidden Kingdom
Tomb Blaster: This is set mainly around the old ghost ride Terror Tomb that used to be here - as you go round you have to shoot things, and you get a score and photo at the end. Quite fun.
Rameses Revenge:
(> 1.4m) This is like Rip Saw at Alton Towers and is a bit of a torture instrument - you get spun around many times, held upside down 50 ft in the air and slowly dropped into fountains of water. Again, probably not one to go on just after eating! There is a photo taken on this.
Mexicana
Rattlesnake: (> 1.4m) A real boneshaker, but a lot of fun - it has very tight bends and quite a fast drop. You get a photo on this one. Probably one to avoid just after eating.
Rodeo: (> 1.4m) This is a fast ride - a kind of waltza ride but with more spinning. The cars are revolving while tilting. The speed seems to vary - sometimes your head is pinned back against the seat, maybe it depends where you sit.
Runaway Train: (> 0.9m) A nice runaway train ride for all the family, watch out for the tilt near the end - it's funny when it's slowing down to stop the person on the right slides over and squashes the person on the left.
Market Square
Hocus Pocus Hall: (< 1.4m)! You get 3D glasses and the walls look like they're coming out to get you! Very effective effects.
Safari Skyway: (< 1.96m, and for family groups only) This is a nice tour around the park and you get a good view from up on the tracks. Lasts about 7 minutes and there's usually not too much of a queue so definitely worth doing.
Animal Land
No rides in this one, this is the zoo area. You can get a good view of the area from the Safari Skyway, starts from Market Square.
Pirates Cove
Black Buccaneer: (> 0.9m) A good pirate ship ride - swings high so you get lifted out of your seat.
Seastorm: (> 0.9m) Nice little ride that goes pretty fast - the boats go up and down as they go round.
Transylvania
Prof Burp's Bubbleworks: (< 1.1m and family groups) Gentle ride round in a boat with music and fountains.
Vampire: (> 1.1m, < 1.96m) This is a great suspended coaster, recently re'vamped' but it didn't seem to change much, possibly a bit faster and the carriages no longer have floors. It's a pretty fast ride with some nice swings into the corners. You get a photo on this ride, taken just as it goes down into the tunnel.
Toytown
Toadie's Crazy Cars (< 1.0m)
Ribena Berry Bouncers (> 0.9m)
Flying Jumbos (< 1.1m)
Carousel (< 1.3m)
Action Training HQ (max 1.4m)
Tiny Truckers (< 1.1m)
Spinning Coaster coming in 2004!
Beanoland
Dennis's Madhouse (max 1.4m)
Bash Street Bus (> 0.9m, max 1.96m)
Roger the Dodger's Dodgems (> 0.9m)
Billy's Whizzer (> 1.2m) Chairopkane (swinging chairs on chains) ride. You can get very wet on this one, especially if you sit on the outside.
Bea's Splatapaults Water bombs!
